Ketamine

What is it: Ketamine is a dissociative general anesthetic. It has hypnotic, stimulant, and hallucinogenic properties. It is primarily used by veterinarians. It is used as a “club drug”.

What are the effects: Ketamine is fast-acting and can cause dizziness, confusion, disorientation, hallucinations, agitation, impaired motor skills, high blood pressure, and potentially fatal respiratory failure. It is often described as creating a “conscious sedation” effect – you are aware of what is happening to you but you are unable to move.

It is especially dangerous when mixed with alcohol or other drugs.

What does it look like: Ketamine can be a liquid, or a powder.
